Community Design and Land Planning

All of our homes are designed to enable a sense of community and a sense of belonging. This begins with a main premise of our beliefs — that the homeowner lives in the front of the house and thus becomes an integral part neighborhood activity. From the large front porches to living rooms in the front of the house, these public and semi-public areas allow 'eyes on the street', promoting neighbor interactivity and a sharing of common public space. This strategy encourages a pride in the public areas — from the homeowners' front yard landscaping to neighborhood block parties. It has also been proven that this technique reduces crime and unsolicited activity.

TightLines Designs has provided consulting services for new and revitalized communities across North Carolina. Our expertise reaches beyond state lines. Please contact us if we can assist you with future communities.

Community Development

We can aid in selection or design of appropriate homes to fit the needs and appearance of a new or existing neighborhood. We can help with lot size suggestions, house placement, color selections, and architectural details to create a harmonious community.

Entire collections of TightLines homes are available for developers to create economically balanced communities with a consistent architectural style. Our designs can be modified to suit the specific look, feel, and needs of a community. Our experience goes beyond single-family home design to providing consulting services to developers needing assistance with community development and conservation land planning.

Conservation Land Planning

Conservation Land Planning is a process by which planned developments can support the same number of homes deemed by market conditions or zoning but are arranged in a way to maximize green space or common space to be shared by the community. These shared natural areas can range from simple greenways to wooded or protected wetlands to common garden areas.

We support the idea and process of conservation land planning due to the sustainable and social qualities that benefit human and environmental health.
