National Rating Systems for Energy, Resources, & Indoor Air Quality
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) provides two means to acquire green certification for single familiy homes. Both programs are national rating systems for energy, resources, and indoor air quality.
The Model Green Home Building Guidelines is a national green home rating system for single family homes. Divided into two parts, the Guidelines cover seven areas, or guiding principles: Lot Design; Resource Efficiency; Energy Efficiency; Water Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality; Homeowner Education; and Global Impact. The Guidelines offer three levels of green building — Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
The National Green Building Standard is is suitable for single-family & multi-unit homes, site development, and residential remodeling projects seeking green certification.
