Chatham Habitat for Humanity’s Chatham Oak community is in the final stages of construction. Construction is currently underway on two TightLines Design homes: the Warren and Jill. The ground-breaking mixed income community is located in Pittsboro, NC and situated on five acres of land. Homes are being made available to families earning between 25% and 80% of the local area median income and priced at approximately $160,000. Low-interest loans were made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and down payment assistance was provided for many by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.

TightLines Designs provided home designs for the community. The Jill, currently dried-in and set to be completed in late August, is 1100 square feet and features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The home was modified by TightLines designers to be ADA accessible, including a 5’ turning radius in the master bathroom. The home also features a desirable vaulted ceiling in the living room, walk-in closets and a galley kitchen. Studs were designed 2’ on center to allow for less material, increased insulation and R-value, and an enhanced building envelope with fewer seams.

Chatham Habitat, in partnership with private homebuilder Van Groce of Custom Contracting Corporation, has offered the homes to Chatham County’s workforce including nurses, teachers and other middle income workers. The HOA is currently making plans for a community space, which will finish out this very unique project.
